These shortbread cookies will make an excellent addition to your holiday cookie platter this season! Decorate them and use cookie cutters, or shape them however you'd like!

Ingredients

1 cup butter, softened (make sure it is not melted)

1/2 cup icing sugar, sifted

2 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions

Cream butter and icing sugar together until soft and fluffy.

Mix in flour one cup at a time. Ensure you are not over-mixing the dough.

Separate dough into two sections, and lightly flour a clean surface.

Working with one section at a time, roll out dough using the pictures above as a depth guideline. Using cookie cutters, remove cut shapes and place on a cookie tray with parchment paper.

Preheat oven to 350°F.

While oven is pre-heating, decorate cookies if desired.

Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, turning the tray around half-way through. When the edges of each cookie are beginning to turn golden-brown, they are ready to be removed from the oven.

Let cool for 5 minutes on cooling rack before serving.
