These thick and chewy bars are a great alternative to regular cookies! Stuffed with chocolate chips and m&m's, these cookie bars will have you drooling for more!

Ingredients

1/2 cup salted butter, softened

1/2 cup butter-flavor shortening, softened

3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup white sugar

2 eggs
-
2 tsp. vanilla
-
1 tsp. baking soda
-
pinch of salt
-
1 tsp. baking powder
-
2 tbsp. cornstarch
-
3 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
-
3/4 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

3/4 cup m&m's

Yields: 12 cookie squares
Instructions

Preheat oven to 325°F.

Cream together the butter, shortening, light brown sugar, and white sugar.

Mix in eggs and vanilla until fully combined.

Add the baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cornstarch, and combine.

Fold in the flour one cup at a time until just incorporated. Do not over mix.

Add in the chocolate chips and m&m's and mix until evenly distributed. If desired, save a handful of m&m's to top the bars once they are in the pan.

Using a 8x8 or 9x9 pan, spray with cooking spray and add two pieces of parchment paper in alternating directions.

Press dough into the pan using a spatula, and bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until the center is almost set and the edges are golden brown.

Remove from oven, and cool for at least 30 minutes before cutting and serving.
