Molten Chocolate Lava Cakes

Published on 3 September 2024 at 21:18

These double chocolate cakes are stuffed in the center with gooey chocolate, that will melt out of the cake like lava when cut open! They are a delicious tasting dessert for all occasions.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup butter

  • 6oz. semi sweet chocolate

  • 3 eggs

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • pinch of salt

  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

  • 2/3 cup flour

Instructions

  1. Grease six ramekins with butter and set aside.

  2. Preheat oven to 400°F.

  3. Combine butter and chocolate in a saucepan on low heat, and stir until completely melted. Set aside to cool.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs and sugar.

  5. Add salt and vanilla, and combine.

  6. Once cooled, add the chocolate mixture into the egg mixture.

  7. Stir in the flour until fully incorporated.

  8. Separate batter evenly between ramekins. Bake in oven for 13 to 15 minutes, or until edges are set and the centers are still jiggly and gooey (see photo above for reference).

  9. Let rest for 5 to 10 minutes after removing from the oven. Run a knife around the edges of each cake. Serve while still warm by flipping ramekins upside down and letting the cake fall onto a plate. Icing sugar can be added on top of cakes if desired.
